Hi Rob,I just bought my first DSLR which is an entry level Canon 1000D. I was really confused with all the settings and thought I would probably use the automatic function for all photos however now I feel like a pro thanks to you! I just wanted to thank you for all the effort and time you put into helping us and that your site is the best. You have a great talent in explaining clearly what everything photagraphy is about...
Cheers,Pierre

Hi Rob,
I chanced upon your video on Youtube and got into your website. I enjoyed your materials in your site and learned a great deal regarding Macro Photography. I am looking to buy a EF100/2.8 Macro Lens and your tips are of great value, at least to me.
Thank you and may God bless you and your family.

Hi Rob,
I stumbled onto your tutorials on "You Tube" completely by accident. What a breath of fresh air you are, so easy to understand.
Fourteen months ago I moved up from an Olympus SP 560UZ to a Canon EOS 450D. I just wish I'd known about your websites at that time.
I'm now looking forward to learning how I can get more out of my EOS from your websites.
All the very best
Kev

Hi all,
Just to mention please that it is easier for me if people ask questions, which I am very happy to help with, through the My Photo Tutor Forum (link on left navbar). By having them all in one place I can find them easier and also by putting answers there, other people can see them and hopefully be helped by them too.
Thanks,
Rob Barron

HI rob!!! just wanted to say ive watched all your videos and they are great! you explain things so well and are easy to understand. i get things now that i didnt just by reading books! so, thank you.
I just have some questions for you.. the other day, i was in program mode and the picture turned out way overexposed..i thought i program mode that it picks the correct exposure???would i just turn down the ISO? Also, sometimes my lens is not focusing in autofocus. i try to focus on a face and it goes blurry and then it wont even take the shot! i know i can put it in manual, but im just wondering if my camera is wrecked or if its something im doing wrong?maybe something with spot metering?also, in full manual mode, sometimes when i push the shutter, my camera will not take the picture. i thought in manual mode, the camera would take the shot no matter what because you are telling it what to do?? and then, during your video about repricocity, i was practising with the chart , turning up and down the shutter and f stop while in manual mode, and if i pointed my camera towards an object, it was saying that the lens goes up to f32, then if i pointed it at something else, it was only going up to f29! is this supposed to happen? its frustrating to think your camera isnt working properly!!! =) i can probably think of MANY more questions for you but i wont overwhelm you!! if you could answer these or most of these questions i will be VERY grateful!!!
thanks for your time,
Tjay

Hi Rob, just wanted to say that your videos are the best I've seen and have been a huge help in learning my way around the DSLR. I'm new to this type of photography and after going to a few sites getting little to no help, just reading numbers and stats and even talking to other photographers who would scoff at me for not knowing the basics, I found your site.
Your videos are great, everything is presented in plain english and explained in a way that I can understand and remember. The fact that you use examples of how the various setting affect the image is very good to see, much easier to understand than reading numbers and measurements and trying to imagine how it would look in my head.
I'm going to buy my first DSLR in a few days and now I know I will be able to use the camera with confidence. I'll be sure to join your site and take advantage of the one on one tutoring and advice too.
Thanks heaps!!

Hi and thanks for your comments. I am delighted that you have found my videos helpful. I set out to make them clear to everyone as best I could so am glad you have found them easy to understand.
Photography is all about capturing the moment and knowing the moment to press the button and the only way to really know that is to take pictures.... lots of them! The more you take, the more you will find yourself getting 'into the moment' and knowing instinctively when to take the shot.
keep practicing on friend and family and I am sure you will soon find yourself being asked to take photos by them and others. So the answer Susan is definitely 'YES, you can!'
I hope you will continue to find my site and my videos helpful to you.
best wishes,
Rob
